On a steer axle this stabilises the contact patch, suppresses river wear and shoulder rippling, and preserves wet braking and lateral grip on coarse New Zealand chipseal. The result is consistent handling, shorter wet stopping distances over the full tread life, and high usable mileage, supporting a lower cost per kilometre for regional haul and distribution fleets.

Infinicoil Crown Reinforcement. A single, continuous high-tensile steel cable wrapped circumferentially around the crown controls growth at speed and caps deflection under heavy steering inputs, keeping the footprint shape uniform under variable axle loads. This reduces tread block micro-slip and heat build-up, protects belt edges against separations on rough surfaces, and improves steering precision. By limiting dynamic strain in the crown package, Infinicoil also enhances casing integrity for reliable retreading, helping maximise lifecycle value of the Michelin X Multi Z2.

Powercoil Casing Architecture. Next-generation, lighter but stronger steel cords in the carcass deliver higher fatigue resistance with lower hysteresis, cutting rolling losses while running cooler in stop/start regional service. The robust bead-to-bead construction, with reinforced bead zone stability, minimises rim-seat micromovement and chafer wear, improving uptime under frequent docking and roundabout manoeuvres. Lower operating temperatures reduce oxidation and ply degradation, increasing the retreadable envelope and enabling confident regrooving to extend first life, all while contributing to measurable fuel savings for the steer position.

3PMSF and M+S Certified. Carrying both 3PMSF and M+S markings, the tread compound and full-depth siping deliver dependable traction in cold, wet and occasional light-snow conditions typical of alpine routes, without sacrificing regional-haul mileage. High sipe density generates shear on compacted snow and slush, while wide circumferential channels and evolving grooves sustain water flow rates to resist aquaplaning as the tyre wears. This broad operating window simplifies fleet tyre policy compliance and reduces seasonal changeovers, keeping vehicles productive across New Zealand’s variable climate.

Optimised Steer Footprint Geometry. A wide, even-pressure footprint with decoupling ribs and anti-river-wear rib geometry spreads load across the tread to combat shoulder scrubbing and cupping that are common on steer axles in urban/regional duty. Controlled contact pressure gradients reduce heel-and-toe wear on rib edges, maintaining straight-line stability and precise on-centre feel over long runs. The stable footprint also limits stone retention and micro-tearing on coarse chipseal, safeguarding casing health for multiple retread cycles and ensuring predictable wear to removal.
