Michelin XZY3

Buy the all-position truck tyre for demanding on/off-road use, delivering cut- and chip-resistant durability, confident traction on sealed and unsealed roads, long tread life, and a robust, retreadable casing.

Cut and chip resistant compound. Engineered for mixed-service duty, the Michelin XZY3 uses a highly reinforced, cut- and chip-resistant tread compound that resists chunking, tearing and abrasive wear on quarry roads and forestry tracks while maintaining stability on sealed highways. A robust NR/BR polymer blend with elevated carbon black loading and optimised cross-link density controls hysteresis to limit heat build-up at sustained load, supporting cooler running and slower wear. This delivers longer tread life, fewer premature removals from stone drilling, and a lower cost per kilometre across New Zealand construction, logging and rural delivery applications.

Reinforced all-steel casing. The XZY3 incorporates an all-steel, multi-belt crown package with high-tensile steel cords, a strong bead bundle and extended turn-up plies to stabilise the lower sidewall under heavy loads and low-speed manoeuvres typical of on/off-road work. This casing architecture distributes contact stresses evenly and resists impact fatigue, while a cool-running inner liner and bead apex manage heat in long sealed-road transfers. The result is superior casing durability, predictable footprint shape for even wear, and excellent retreadability to maximise lifecycle value through Michelin Remix or local retread partners.

Deep open tread design. A deep, open, multi-block tread with wide circumferential and lateral grooves provides reliable traction and braking on unsealed surfaces while maintaining directional stability on-road. Interlocking shoulder elements and tie-bars control block movement to prevent heel-and-toe and river wear, and tapered groove walls promote rapid mud and slurry evacuation for consistent grip in wet clay and aggregate. This geometry keeps the tyre biting when it counts, yet runs evenly on the highway, extending usable tread depth and reducing downtime in mixed-route operation.

Stone ejector groove geometry. Purpose-designed stone ejectors integrated in the main grooves mechanically disrupt and release trapped gravel to prevent stone retention and subsequent crown perforation. By minimising drilling into the belt package, these ejectors protect the steel cords from corrosion and fatigue, preserving casing integrity for multiple service lives. Operators benefit from fewer puncture-related stoppages, longer intervals between inspections, and higher retread acceptance rates, especially on fleets frequenting metal and chip-seal roads common across New Zealand.

Robust sidewall protection shields. Thickened sidewall rubber with protective ribs and a buttressed shoulder profile helps deflect impacts from rocks, ruts and kerbs, reducing cuts and scuff damage during site access and tight yard manoeuvres. The reinforced sidewall compound resists abrasion while maintaining controlled flex to dissipate strain without generating excess heat. This protective design lowers the risk of sidewall penetrations and cord exposure, improving uptime and keeping the Michelin XZY3 in service longer across steer, drive or trailer positions in demanding mixed-service fleets.
