Controlled rib stiffness and micro-siping manage local shear strains to break the water film while keeping rib edges supported, suppressing river wear and feathering. The uniform contact pressure profile minimises heel-and-toe, extends usable tread life, and helps deliver a sharper steering response under varied loads.

Optimised contact footprint. A wide, square footprint with tuned pressure gradients reduces edge stress and maintains even load transfer across the tread, so the Warrior WS309A wears uniformly despite camber, toe, and axle load variations common in mixed fleet service. Shoulder decoupling features isolate the outer ribs to lower heat concentration at the shoulder/tread junction, mitigating crack initiation during long, high-speed runs. The stable footprint also improves braking linearity and maintains a consistent tyre contact patch as the casing deflects, supporting confident handling and longer service intervals.

Stone ejector grooves. Integrated stone-ejector ridges at the base of the circumferential grooves actively dislodge chip-seal aggregate and scoria, preventing stone drilling through the undertread into the steel belt package. A low-hysteresis tread formulation blending high-cis natural rubber and solution SBR with a silane-coupled silica/carbon black filler system reduces tan d at operating temperature, cutting rolling resistance without compromising wet-grip viscoelasticity at lower temperatures. Lower internal energy loss means reduced heat build-up at the belt edges and shoulders on extended hauls, improving fuel economy and keeping tread stiffness stable for precise handling. Advanced anti-oxidant/anti-ozonant systems and protective wax bloom enhance ageing resistance in New Zealand conditions, supporting consistent performance over the tyre’s life.

Retread ready steel casing. An all-steel radial construction with a high-tensile steel cord body ply, wide twin steel belts, and a robust bead package with a hard apex and high turn-up delivers excellent structural stability, impact resistance, and retreadability. Belt angles are tuned to manage shear at the belt edges under repeated braking and cornering, while a high-integrity innerliner and belt cushion maintain air retention and adhesion.
