Wheel-Balancing

WHEEL BALANCING

WHY SHOULD I GET MY WHEELS BALANCED?

If the tyre and wheel assembly are not balanced or balanced incorrectly, this can result in vibrations occurring at a range of different speeds. A vibration can manifest itself and be felt through the steering wheel, the floor, the dashboard or the seats.

Correct tyre balance is achieved using modern sophisticated and accurate balancing machines that we use to identify the inherent imbalance of wheels, tyres and valves.

Incorrect wheel balance can also cause mechanical stress and wear within the steering, drive and suspension components thereby leading to costly repair charges.

Unusual or abnormal tyre wear can also be caused by poor wheel and tyre balance which can lead to shortened tyre life and tyre mileage.

WHEN SHOULD I GET MY WHEELS BALANCED?

It is important to carry out a wheel balance every time a wheel and tyre are disassembled and reassembled (such as when changing a tyre, getting a puncture repaired and changing mag wheels). This will also help identify that the wheels are in good order and aren’t damaged in any way.

From time to time as part of essential maintenance of the wheel / tyre assembly and drivetrain, it is good practice to check and rebalance wheels and tyres as the tyre balance changes as the tyre becomes worn and tyre weight is reduced as a result of reduced tread depth.

For a comfortable drive and sustained vehicle & tyre performance it is recommended that all four wheels are balanced at the same time.
