Top Tips

Check Your Tyre Pressure

Under-inflated or over-inflated tyres wear out quicker and don’t handle as well when you are driving. Maintaining the correct tyre pressure will help you to use less fuel and be safer on the road. Tyres that are under-inflated by 7 PSI could cost you around $334 a year!* That’s around 67 coffees or two annual streaming subscriptions.

Check Your Wheel Alignment

Are you privy to the fact that a bad wheel alignment could increase your fuel usage by up to 10%? A poor wheel alignment will increase rolling resistance, increase your fuel bill and decrease the life of your tyres. At Advantage we use state-of-the-art wheel alignment technology to check that your tyres are on the right track. In just a few minutes our in-store techs will provide you with a printout of your vehicles current state of alignment. They will then advise you on the next best move.

Check Your Engine Oil

Old or low engine oil increases friction on the internal engine components, this means your engine has to work harder to create the same level of power, a harder working engine uses more fuel. Most manufacturers will recommend you change your oil every 6 months or 10,000kms for peak efficiency and engine health.

Check Your Air Filter

When your air filter is dirty or blocked your engine is starved of one of its main components for combustion… air! As a result, it compensates for the lack of air by using more fuel! Not only does a dirty or blocked air filter increase fuel consumption, but it can also cause excessive internal wear and decrease your engine’s lifespan. Your air filter should be replaced every 12 months.
