Michelin X Incity EV Z

Buy the urban bus tyre for electric and hybrid fleets, delivering high load capacity, kerb-resistant durability and quiet wet-grip safety with low rolling resistance to extend range and reduce operating costs.

High-load EV construction. Engineered for the axle weights and torque profiles of modern electric buses, the Michelin X Incity EV Z uses a high-tensile steel casing architecture with Michelin Powercoil cables and Duracoil bead reinforcement to increase carcass stiffness, reduce heat build-up under repeated stop–start cycles, and preserve structural integrity under elevated GVW. The result is higher load capacity with stable sidewall deflection, controlled contact-patch growth, and lower operating temperatures during regenerative braking events, which together deliver predictable handling, improved energy efficiency, and longer casing life suitable for multiple retreads.

Reinforced urban sidewalls. A full-height kerbing protector and abrasion-resistant sidewall compound shield the tyre from frequent contact with kerbs and street furniture typical of city routes, minimising scuffing, ply exposure, and air-loss incidents. The sidewall rubber uses a cut- and tear-resistant elastomer blend with anti-ozonant protection, while a robust chafer package and bead apex geometry distribute stresses away from the bead seat, helping protect the casing and maintaining airtightness for reduced downtime and lower whole-of-life cost in intensive urban service.

Low rolling resistance compound. A low-hysteresis, silica-enriched tread formulation with functionalised polymers reduces energy losses in the footprint, lowering kWh/km consumption and extending route range for electric fleets without compromising wet grip. By managing viscoelastic losses and belt-edge temperatures through optimised compound Tg and carbon–silica coupling, the tyre runs cooler in dense urban traffic, stabilising tread block dynamics and delivering consistent rolling resistance from new through to end-of-life, further amplified by an efficient undertread that decouples heat from the casing.

All-position urban tread. The all-position pattern is tuned for city bus duty with robust shoulders to resist lateral scrub, wide longitudinal grooves for efficient water evacuation, and 3D siping that maintains biting edges as the tread wears, helping preserve wet braking and traction throughout the tyre’s life. Michelin’s evolving tread geometry promotes even pressure distribution to combat river wear and heel–toe, while a decoupling groove helps manage shoulder shear during tight manoeuvres, supporting predictable steering on the steer axle and confident traction when fitted across positions.

RFID-enabled fleet management. An embedded UHF RFID chip enables fast, contactless identification and lifecycle traceability, integrating with digital tyre management platforms for accurate asset tracking, automated fitment logging, and retread pairing. This supports precise pressure and mileage programme compliance, streamlines yard audits, and reduces clerical errors, allowing fleets to optimise rotation schedules and total cost of ownership while maintaining the casing provenance required for high-quality retreading of the Michelin X Incity EV Z.
