Michelin X Works HD D

Shop , the heavy-duty drive-axle truck tyre engineered for severe mixed service, delivering outstanding on/off-road traction, cut- and chip-resistant tread, long mileage and a robust, retreadable casing to maximise uptime.

Heavy-duty drive traction. The Michelin X Works HD D tyre uses an aggressive open-lug drive pattern with high void ratios and stepped shoulder blocks to maximise mechanical keying on quarry rock, wet clay and loose aggregate, while interlocking centre blocks stabilise the footprint at highway speeds to control heel-toe wear. Deep, self-cleaning grooves with stone-ejector geometry actively purge debris to limit drilling into the belt package. M+S and 3PMSF markings support year-round traction compliance, delivering confident startability on steep, low-friction surfaces under high torque. The result is consistent tractive effort and reduced slip losses, helping keep cycle times tight and fuel burn in check on mixed on/off-road routes.

Infinicoil reinforced crown. A continuous circumferential steel cord wrapped around the crown stabilises the Michelin X Works HD D under heavy payloads and peak torque, reducing tread growth and maintaining a uniform contact pressure distribution. This minimises belt-edge stress concentrations and mitigates crown fatigue, improving resistance to separations on corrugated haul roads. By keeping the tread package locked down, Infinicoil enhances straight-line stability on highway legs and promotes even wear across the blocks, extending service life before regroove or retread. The technology also helps the casing run cooler, preserving the integrity of the rubber–steel interfaces for multiple lives.

Chip-resistant rubber compound. The tread utilises a high tear-strength, cut- and chip-resistant compound formulated for mixed-service abrasion, combining robust carbon black reinforcement with optimised polymer crosslink density to resist chunking on sharp basalt and river gravel. Controlled hysteresis in the base compound limits heat build-up under sustained torque, protecting the belt skim from thermal fatigue during long on-road transfers. Enhanced crack-growth resistance at the lug bases maintains block stiffness and biting edges, safeguarding traction while the tyre wears. This chemistry protects the casing from penetrations, directly translating to fewer unplanned removals and a lower cost-per-kilometre.

Robust sidewall protectors. Reinforced sidewalls with additional rubber gauge and sculpted buttress protectors shield the carcass from kerb strikes, rock edges and loader buckets common on construction and forestry sites. The geometry deflects impacts away from the cord body and spreads localised stresses, reducing the likelihood of ply breaks and air ingress. A cooler-running sidewall construction controls flex fatigue during long loaded hauls, further improving durability. Fewer sidewall-related failures mean more uptime and predictable planning for vehicles moving between site and highway.

Regroovable and retreadable casing. Engineered with a robust, cool-running casing featuring Michelin Powercoil steel cables and a reinforced bead zone, the X Works HD D is designed for multiple lives through regrooving and retreading. Ample undertread rubber and clearly defined groove bases facilitate precise regrooving to restore traction and optimise rolling resistance late in the first life. The stable, low-temperature casing architecture increases retread acceptance rates, allowing you to leverage Michelin’s retread solutions for consistent performance and guaranteed fit. Extending the tyre’s lifecycle in this way reduces total cost of ownership and supports sustainability targets without compromising reliability.
