Michelin X Works HL Z

Buy the truck tyre for high-load, on- and off-road performance with exceptional durability, confident grip and braking, and retreadable value to keep your fleet moving.

High Load Steer Capacity. Engineered specifically for higher front-axle masses, the Michelin X Works HL Z delivers elevated load indices (size-dependent, e.g., up to 164K in 385/65 R22.5 or 156/150L in 315/70 R22.5) to legally support 8–10 tonne steer axles while maintaining precise handling. A reinforced bead package and stiffer sidewall geometry control deflection under high static and dynamic loads, preserving a stable, square contact patch for consistent steering input and braking. The optimised footprint reduces shoulder stress and heat concentration, curbing irregular wear on mixed sealed/unsealed routes. This high-load capability lets you specify heavier front equipment or alternative drivelines without compromising tyre life or safety margins.

Infinicoil Crown Reinforcement. A continuous 0-degree steel cable wraps the crown to stabilise the tread at speed and under impact, minimising casing growth and shear in mixed-service conditions. This architecture distributes load uniformly across the footprint, reducing shoulder scrubbing on steer axles and resisting the onset of river wear. Lower cyclic strain in the belt edge area curbs heat build-up, improving endurance on long linehaul sectors between worksites. The result is longer mileage, more predictable wear-out, and a more retreadable casing.

Powercoil Steel Cables. High-tensile, lower-mass steel cords run bead-to-bead to strengthen the casing while reducing hysteresis, improving durability under repeated flexing over rough aggregate and kerb strikes common to construction work. The optimised cord design resists fretting and corrosion propagation, maintaining belt integrity over multiple life cycles and enhancing retread acceptance rates. Reduced internal heat generation improves dimensional stability and rolling efficiency, helping control fuel consumption without sacrificing robustness. This construction also supports higher inflation pressures associated with HL ratings, maintaining footprint shape and steering precision.

Cut-Resistant Tread Compound. A high-tear NR/BR polymer matrix with a silica–carbon black hybrid filler system is tuned to resist chunking, chipping and laceration on sharp metal, ballast and quarry surfaces while retaining wet grip on sealed roads. Elevated tear energy and crack-growth resistance slow damage propagation from tread cuts, protecting the steel package against penetrations. Carefully balanced glass transition temperature and plasticiser content limit heat build-up so compound resilience is maintained over long hauls between sites. You gain longer usable tread life and more even wear, improving cost-per-kilometre in mixed service.

Stone Ejector Grooves. Wide, self-cleaning longitudinal grooves incorporate stepped bases and moulded ejector features that disrupt stone retention, reducing drilling into the belt package on unsealed surfaces. By lowering the incidence of penetrations and rust jacking at the belt edges, the X Works HL Z preserves crown integrity and maximises the likelihood of successful regrooving and retreading. The groove geometry also stabilises rib elements to mitigate cupping and feathering on steer axles, improving wear regularity. Fewer puncture events mean higher uptime and predictable maintenance planning for demanding construction fleets.
