Scrub-resistant shoulder blocks. Engineered for high-scrub trailer service, the Michelin XTE2 employs reinforced shoulder ribs with a higher-gauge compound and elevated abrasion index to resist lateral shear at roundabouts, yard turns, and docking manoeuvres. The stiffer shoulder architecture minimises micro-slip at the shoulder/road interface, reducing rapid feathering and tearing, while optimised groove radii lower stress concentration at rib edges. The outcome is measurably slower shoulder wear progression, more uniform wear patterns, and longer removal mileage, helping fleets cut cost per kilometre in demanding regional distribution.

Optimised contact footprint. A wide, flat crown profile paired with stabilising steel belt geometry delivers a uniform contact pressure map across the tread, mitigating heel-and-toe and diagonal wear common on trailer axles. By reducing peak contact stresses and evening out torque-induced shear, the XTE2 maintains consistent tread block support, which improves straight-line tracking and braking stability. The optimised footprint also lowers localised heat generation in the crown and belt edges, supporting both fuel-efficient rolling and predictable tyre performance to planned removal.

Cool-running tread compound. The XTE2 tread utilises a low-hysteresis polymer blend with optimised filler dispersion to reduce tan delta at operating frequencies, cutting energy losses as heat under sustained motorway speeds. Lower running temperatures protect the casing/belt interfaces from thermal fatigue and preserve skim-coat adhesion, extending casing life for multiple retreads. Reduced heat build-up also stabilises inflation pressure over long hauls, contributing to lower rolling resistance, improved fuel economy, and consistent wear rates under high load factors typical of trailer applications.

Reinforced all-steel casing. Built on a robust, all-steel radial construction with high-tensile cord plies and a reinforced bead apex, the Michelin XTE2 delivers excellent structural integrity under high vertical loads and lateral scrubbing. The casing’s belt package provides superior crown stiffness to resist puncture and impact damage, while controlled cord angles distribute stresses to minimise ply separations and belt-edge cracking. This durable architecture enables reliable air retention, precise footprint control, and premium retreadability, maximising lifecycle value for fleet operations.

Regroovable, retread-ready design. Designed with regrooving allowances and undertread reserves, the XTE2 can be professionally regrooved to restore tread geometry and traction later in life, unlocking additional usable kilometres while maintaining legal tread depth. The casing is engineered for compatibility with industry-standard retread processes, ensuring consistent adhesion and curing performance across multiple retread cycles. Together, regrooving and retreading reduce total cost of ownership and material consumption, delivering a lower cost-per-kilometre and sustainability gains without compromising safety or uptime.
