Built for New Zealand conditions, the Maxxis AT781 Razr AT-S is a tough all-terrain tyre tuned for daily comfort and weekend adventure. Its aggressive, multi-angled tread bites on gravel and light mud, while an optimised pattern lowers road noise for quiet highway travel. A cut- and chip-resistant compound and reinforced casing help fend off punctures and extend tread life. Siping boosts wet braking and grip, and sturdy shoulder lugs add traction and protection. Ideal for utes and SUVs, it delivers confident handling, load stability and value you can trust.
Optimised all-terrain tread. Interlocking centre blocks and offset shoulder lugs on the Maxxis AT781 Razr AT-S create a stable, continuous contact patch on sealed roads while retaining the open voids required for bite in gravel, light mud and grass. Angled lateral grooves and chamfered block edges improve self-cleaning and reduce stone retention, maintaining traction and braking consistency on mixed Kiwi surfaces. The balanced void ratio is tuned to limit heel-and-toe wear on coarse chipseal, promoting even wear and longer service life. Tie-bars between key blocks stiffen the pattern under load for confident on-centre feel and predictable lane-change stability when towing.
Low-noise pitch sequencing. A multi-pitch tread arrangement staggers block lengths and groove placement across the footprint to disrupt harmonic build-up, cutting pattern noise on coarse chipseal and concrete. Variable pitch and phase alignment are paired with tuned block stiffness, so impact energy is dissipated rather than amplified as speed rises, lowering cabin dB levels on motorway commutes. This approach also evens out pressure gradients in the contact patch, mitigating cupping and reducing long-term noise growth as the tyre wears. The result is a quieter all-terrain that still retains off-road bite when you need it.
Wet-grip 3D siping. Full-depth, 3D interlocking sipes generate thousands of micro-edges for shear-force grip in the wet, while their interlocking geometry prevents tread-block squirm under braking and cornering. The sipes open as the block enters the footprint to break the water film, then lock under load to stabilise the block, preserving precise steering on rain-soaked motorways. Wide circumferential and lateral evacuation paths move water efficiently away from the centre of the contact patch, reducing hydroplaning risk at typical New Zealand highway speeds. Because the sipes run to near full depth, wet performance remains more consistent as the tyre wears.
Cut-and-chip resistant compound. A silica-reinforced, cut- and chip-resistant tread compound blends abrasion-resistant carbon black with advanced polymers to maximise tear strength on sharp gravel and volcanic rock common on NZ back roads. The formulation’s optimised filler dispersion lowers heat build-up for better tread integrity on long hauls, while anti-oxidant and anti-ozonant packages resist weathering and cracking. This chemistry reduces chunking and edge-shear, so the blocks keep their shape and biting edges for longer, extending usable tread life and preserving traction. Expect dependable durability on forestry tracks and chipseal without sacrificing wet grip.
Reinforced carcass construction. High-tensile twin steel belts under a jointless nylon cap ply deliver footprint stability and uniform pressure distribution for precise handling and even wear. A robust polyester casing and reinforced bead apex improve impact resistance in the lower sidewall and add stability when carrying loads or towing, while helping to control heat under sustained highway speeds. The construction enhances puncture resistance against stone drilling from below and bruise damage from the side, supporting confident use on farm tracks and unsealed roads. This stable foundation lets the AT781 Razr AT-S translate its tread design into consistent real-world grip and braking performance.
